Boy or Girl?

Well, we found out yesterday we are going to be having a bouncing baby boy! We are excited! V is excited to have a baby brother too. She told me today that she wants to teach him how to sing. She is going to be a great big sister. When my doctor asked what she wanted to name her brother she said "Little Lord Jesus". She is still saying the same thing today. She is too funny!

R is excited, but a little overwhelmed at the responsibilities, spiritually and otherwise, that come with having a boy. He is a great daddy. As you know from his birthday post below he is striving to be a great man!

It is going to be fun having one of each. They will be almost exactly 4 years apart. Everyone says that is a great gap, that the kids almost always are best friends. I am excited to experience the exuberance that comes with a boy. Victoria is a ball of fire, but everyone tells me I am in for it when I have a biy. We shall see!

My Next 30 Years (Roland)

Well I rarely get out here and do a post. But being that I am up, later than usual, I decided to do a post. This is my last night being a 20 something for tomorrow I will enter into the 30's. Ahh yes being 30 is scary, no longer will I heal over night, if I had hair it would fall out faster and I distance myself from being cool (although I never really was cool come to think of it). O well. Instead of looking back on what I would like to have changed thus far in my life I look forward with joy and hope. I know what I am going to shoot for in a career (finally). I know exactly who I want to be like (since the Savior is a perfect man (and no one else can be), I look towards being a man like his servants, the prophets of old and of new. I do have a long way to go but I know how to get there. It will take years, lots of reading, praying, and listening, but I can get there. Do I want to have that calling? Heck no. But to be like them, inmovable and firm in faith, that is how I want to be.

For those who don't know (since we haven't updated in a couple of weeks) I will be going back to school (if not this fall next fall (all depends on how I do on the LSAT)). That is right Law School. Yikes! I know what some of you are thinking, you are 30 why are you going to put yourself (and your family) through Law School. Lets just say praying, fasting and blessings confirmed it. I have had an overwhelming passion to get involved with the community through public service. I love it. So maybe in 12 years I will be sworn in as the 45th or 46th President of the United States. Who knows? Keep up to date with this blog and my website: http://www.rolandwimpey.com/!

Now I leave you with a song that best describes my thoughts on turning 30 (minus the parts about the beer):

I think Ill take a moment, celebrate my age
The ending of an era and the turning of a page
Now its time to focus in on where I go from here
Lord have mercy on my next thirty years

Hey my next thirty years Im gonna have some fun
Try to forget about all the crazy things Ive done
Maybe now Ive conquered all my adolescent fears
And Ill do it better in my next thirty years

My next thirty years Im gonna settle all the scores
Cry a little less, laugh a little more
Find a world of happiness without the hate and fear
Figure out just what Im doing here
In my next thirty years

Oh my next thirty years, Im gonna watch my weight
Eat a few more salads and not stay up so late
Drink a little lemonade and not so many beers
Maybe Ill remember my next thirty years

My next thirty years will be the best years of my life
Raise a little family and hang out with my wife
Spend precious moments with the ones that I hold dear
Make up for lost time here, in my next thirty years
In my next thirty years
